Two personal-best times and one season-best mark highlighted the opening day of the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational for the Purdue track & field team in Gainesville, Florida, on Friday. Friday’s action is the start of a two-day, two-meet weekend for the Boilermakers, as competition at Florida continues on Saturday.

Fifth-year Camille Christopher ran the women’s 200-meter in a season-best time of 23.51. Junior Naomi Campbell posted a personal-record mark in all conditions, as she crossed the finish line in 23.78-w. Senior Saran Kouyeth earned a time of 23.95 to begin her weekend.

In the men’s 200m, freshman Connor Czajkawoski added a personal-best time in all conditions of his own, as his mark of 20.81-w placed him 16th overall. Fifth-year Justin Becker notched a time of 21.00 and freshman Eric Young II finished in 21.57.

Eighteen Boilermakers, 11 men and seven women, are competing at the Gators’ James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track. A total of 39 teams will compete at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, including host-Florida and Big Ten squads Iowa, Ohio State and Rutgers.
