Every summer, Indianapolis becomes much more than a destination—it transforms into a gathering place where Black excellence, leadership, entrepreneurship, and community are celebrated on one of the nation’s biggest stages. One of the most anticipated events during the Indiana Black Expo (IBE) Summer Celebration is the Pacers Sports & Entertainment Corporate Luncheon, an annual tradition that recognizes individuals whose achievements have made lasting contributions to entertainment, business, sports, faith, and the community. Year after year, the luncheon reminds attendees that success is measured not only by professional accomplishments but by the positive impact people make on the lives of others.
The 2026 Corporate Luncheon once again demonstrated why it remains one of the cornerstone events of the Summer Celebration. October London represented another important dimension of Black excellence by connecting generations through music. His soulful voice ho
nors the timeless traditions established by legendary R&B artists while introducing younger audiences to the richness of classic soul music. His recognition celebrated not only his talent but also his commitment to preserving a musical heritage that continues to influence artists around the world.
Behind the scenes, Mathew Knowles has spent decades building careers, developing businesses, and mentoring entrepreneurs. Although many know him for guiding some of the music industry’s biggest stars, his influence extends well beyond entertainment. His dedication to education, entrepreneurship, and business leadership has inspired countless aspiring executives to pursue excellence while creating opportunities for others to succeed.
Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson Sr. reminded everyone in attendance that true leadership begins with service. Through decades of ministry, community outreach, and spiritual guidance, he has demonstrated how faith can transform families and communities. Terri Carmichael Jackson also showcased another important example of leadership by proving that success in sports extends far beyond athletic competition. Her executive leadership has helped create greater opportunities for
diversity, inclusion, and professional advancement throughout the sports industry. Collectively, every honoree reinforced one powerful message—Black excellence comes in many forms, and every profession offers an opportunity to make a lasting difference.
At AMPS Magazine, we have attended award ceremonies across the country, yet the Indiana Black Expo Corporate Luncheon continues to distinguish itself because it feels less like an awards banquet and more like a family reunion celebrating achievement. Throughout the ballroom, business executives shared conversations with educators, students networked with Fortune 500 leaders, entrepreneurs exchanged ideas with elected officials, and community activists sat alongside entertainers. The atmosphere encouraged genuine connections rather than casual introductions, creating an environment where networking, mentorship, and inspiration occurred naturally throughout the event.

Families return each year because the luncheon reinforces values centered on education, leadership, service, and giving back. More than anything, the event reminds everyone in attendance that success becomes far more meaningful when it is shared with others.

Representation matters because it allows future leaders to envision themselves succeeding in careers they may have never imagined before.
At a time when conversations surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion continue to evolve across America, the IBE Corporate Luncheon serves as a powerful reminder that celebrating Black achievement benefits everyone. They highlight the innovation, creativity, resilience, leadership, and perseverance that have always been central to the Black experience in America. Every award presented reflects years of sacrifice and dedication, while every standing ovation honors lives committed to creating opportunities for others.
