For generations, Black musicians have shaped the soundtrack of America. From jazz and gospel to funk, soul, R&B, hip-hop, and beyond, Black artists have influenced every major genre of popular music. The Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame<\/strong> was created to ensure that these pioneers receive the recognition they deserve while educating future generations about the city’s extraordinary musical heritage. The attraction celebrates the artists, producers, broadcasters, and music industry leaders whose talents have left an undeniable mark on the world.<\/p>\n

Located along Cincinnati’s riverfront, the Walk of Fame is in Ohio because Cincinnati has long been one of America’s most influential music cities. During the 1960s and 1970s, the city became internationally known through the legendary King Records<\/strong>, a groundbreaking label that recorded artists across racial lines and helped launch the careers of countless Black performers. Cincinnati also became home to the unmistakable “Ohio Funk” sound, producing globally recognized groups whose music continues to inspire artists today. The city’s rich musical legacy made it a natural home for a permanent tribute honoring Black musical excellence.<\/p>\n

Since its creation, the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame has recognized an impressive collection of icons. Past inductees include Bootsy Collins, The Isley Brothers, The O’Jays, Midnight Star, Roger Troutman and Zapp, Nancy Wilson, Wilbert Longmire, and many others whose contributions changed the face of American music. The Walk of Fame continues expanding each year, reminding visitors that Cincinnati’s influence stretches far beyond Ohio and into every corner of the music industry.<\/p>\n

The 2026 celebration continues that tradition by honoring new inductees, including the legendary funk and R&B band Heatwave<\/strong> and pioneering Cincinnati radio station WCIN<\/strong>, the first institution ever inducted into the Walk of Fame. The event also features the presentation of the Legacy Award to celebrated singer Regina Belle and performances highlighting the continuing impact of Black music on American culture.<\/p>\n

One of the most anticipated guests of the 2026 festivities is Marsha Ambrosius. Although she is not listed among the 2026 inductees, Ambrosius has been recognized by organizers because of her remarkable contributions to contemporary R&B and soul music. As one-half of the acclaimed duo Floetry before launching a successful solo career, Ambrosius has become one of the most respected singer-songwriters of her generation. Her songwriting credits include collaborations with Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, Dr. Dre, Jamie Foxx, and numerous other major artists. Her powerful vocals, poetic lyrics, and commitment to authentic storytelling have earned Grammy nominations and the admiration of music lovers worldwide. She was also featured in Cincinnati during Walk of Fame festivities through interviews and performances celebrating her influence on modern soul music.<\/p>\n
