Dr. LaVargne Gunn-Ford a Monroe, LA native was an educator, principal, and supervisor within the Monroe City School System.\u00a0 She was a faithful member of New Tabernacle Baptist Church.\u00a0 She headed many community committees and authored many grants for her community.\u00a0 She was loved by all who knew her.\u00a0 Most knew her as the Principal of Carver Elementary School and Berg Jones Lane Elementary curriculum coordinator.\u00a0 She was an active member of the Monroe Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She spearheaded a plethora of committees and projects, lending a hand anywhere she could.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She graduated from Southern University-Baton Rouge with a bachelor’s degree, followed by a graduate degree from Grambling State University and a doctoral degree from Kansas State University.<\/p>\n

Because of her high standards and contributions to the community, her legacy of love will continue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Consideration for award:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

This application packet<\/a> MUST be completed on or before the deadline of March 21, 2025,<\/b>\u00a0and the scholarship will be presented on a date provided when the student has been notified of being awarded the scholarship.<\/p>\n

The community service recommendation letter must be signed.\u00a0 Omission of any part will eliminate the application for scholarship consideration.<\/p>\n

The candidate selected for the Scholarship Award will receive formal notification of their award.<\/p>\n

Scholarship Awards will be paid upon confirmation of THE SUBSEQUENT FALL University\/College registration.<\/p>\n

Money will be awarded directly to the college\/university where the student is enrolled (official school verification) for the fall 2025 semester.<\/p>\n

*3.4 GPA or higher on 4.0 scale<\/p>\n

* Demonstrated leadership in high school through extracurriculars and community service<\/p>\n

Failure to comply with these instructions will eliminate the application from consideration.<\/b><\/p>\n
