The Dr. Dre Global Impact Award<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, February 5, 2023 the Recording Academy , “Grammy Awards,” presented a new award that will live on for generations. It is an award that will be given to recipients that showcase the traits of what Dr. Dre embodies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andre Romell Young, known as Dr. Dre, is an American rapper and record producer. He is the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics, and previously co-founded, co-owned, and was the president of Death Row Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 2000s, Dre focused on producing other artists, occasionally contributing vocals. He signed Eminem<\/a> in 1998 and 50 Cent<\/a> in 2002, and co-produced their albums. He has won six Grammy Awards<\/a>, including Producer of the Year, Non-Classical<\/a>. Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em> ranked him number 56 on the list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On November 14, 2011, Dre announced that he would be taking a break from music after he finished producing for artists Slim the Mobster<\/a> and Kendrick Lamar<\/a>. In this break, he stated that he would “work on bringing his Beats By Dre to a standard as high as Apple”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During May 2013, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine<\/a> donated a $70 million endowment to the University of Southern California<\/a> to create the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation. The goal of the academy has been stated as “to shape the future by nurturing the talents, passions, leadership and risk-taking of uniquely qualified students who are motivated to explore and create new art forms, technologies, and business models.” The first class of the academy began in September 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of 2021, Dr Dre is reportedly worth around $820 million. He is one of the richest rappers in the world, falling just behind Kanye West, Jay-Z and P Diddy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December 2021, an update for the video game, Grand Theft Auto Online<\/a><\/em>, predominantly featured Dre and added some of his previously unreleased tracks which was released as an EP, The Contract<\/em>, on February 3, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 13, 2022, Dr. Dre performed at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show<\/a> alongside Eminem<\/a>, Snoop Dogg<\/a>, Kendrick Lamar<\/a>, and Mary J. Blige<\/a>, with surprise appearances from 50 Cent<\/a> and Anderson. Paak<\/a>. The performance was met with critical acclaim and is the first Super Bowl halftime show to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live)<\/a>. The show also won the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special<\/a> and Outstanding Music Direction<\/a>. The same year, he produced numerous songs including “The King and I”, a collaboration between Eminem and CeeLo Green<\/a> for the 2022 biopic, Elvis<\/a>,<\/em> and a remix of Kanye West<\/a>‘s song “Use This Gospel<\/a>” for DJ Khaled<\/a>‘s album God Did<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
