Tyson broke barriers\u00a0by challenging the stage and screen image for Black people, receiving an Oscar nomination for best actress in\u00a0Sounder<\/em>\u00a0and two Emmys for her work in\u00a0The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman<\/em>. In 2013, at 88, Tyson won the Tony for best leading actress in a play for her work in the revival of Horton Foote\u2019s\u00a0The Trip to Bountiful<\/em>.
