Business Ventures LLC hosted its 3rd Annual Carnival Masquerade<br \/>\nAffair on Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 6:30p-midnight at the Lucas Oil Estate. At this event, the Indianapolis Mayor\u2019s Office honored Indianapolis\u2019 own, San Francisco 49er Defensive Tackle, and Super Bowl LVI alum Sheldon Day, with a proclamation making February 22, 2020 \u2018<strong>Sheldon Day<\/strong> Day\u2019 in the city.<br \/>\nThe purpose of this charitable black-tie event is to bring together leaders in philanthropy, government, education, business, and sports and entertainment to celebrate and raise money as well as awareness, for two worthwhile charitable causes that make positive impacts in our community; Helping Hands for Freedom whose mission of assisting military veterans in improving their lives as well as the lives of their families; and Sheldon\u2019s Daylight Camp whose mission is empowering and motivating Central Indiana\u2019s youth.<br \/>\nThe 3rd Annual Carnival Masquerade Affair will include a plated dinner, a private VIP cocktail reception for our dignitaries and sponsors, and a silent auction. Among those who are confirmed to attend this year\u2019s event are: Indiana State Senator J.D. Ford, Director of Veteran Services for the Mayor\u2019s office Matt Hall, Sheldon Day, and Indy\u2019s own and former Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World Lamon Brewster. Also, in the true spirit of Mardi Gras, the evening will encompass New Orleans Brass Band music as well as live music from Indianapolis\u2019 premier band, Carl Hines Quartet.<\/p>\n<div class=\"responsive-youtube\">\n<div class=\"responsive-youtube\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D55Ftp0Y10s\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/p>\n<h6><strong>WHO IS L.A. BUSINESS VENTURES?<\/strong><br \/>\nL.A. Business Ventures is a for profit company that\u2019s mission is to invest, acquire, and manage real estate properties around the country while providing quality and affordable housing for its clients. The Founder and President of L.A. Business Ventures LLC is First Sergeant Leon A. Fletcher. An Akron, Ohio native, 1SG Fletcher has been serving in the United States Army for over twenty years as a Medic. 1SG Fletcher\u2019s innate passion for serving his country and community (specifically military and our country\u2019s youth) began as a teenager while participating in Junior R.O.T.C. throughout his high school career and volunteering for youth programs at community centers in and around the Akron area.<br \/>\nThroughout his military career and travels, 1SG Fletcher has had the opportunity to witness firsthand some of the disparities that our wounded soldiers, veterans, military families, as well as youth in underserved communities around our country are forced to contend with. These experiences struck a chord in 1SG Fletcher and fueled his passion for wanting to help these individuals, thus, prompting 1SG Fletcher to create an elegant charitable event that would not only raise money but also awareness for these causes. 1SG Fletcher contacted our fiscal agent, Helping Hands for Freedom and the founder of Project ESTEEM and created this inaugural Carnival Masquerade Affair.<\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>WHO ARE HELPING HANDS FOR FREEDOM &amp; SHELDON\u2019S<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>DAYLIGHT CAMP?\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nHelping Hands for Freedom, is a 501c3 organization, founded in 2008 by co-founders Patrick Shannon, who has received the Purple Heart twice and a Bronze Star for his wounds and heroism\u00a0in Iraq, and Rodney Smith, a former college and NFL standout who has experience with non- profits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0While at Walter Reed Medical Hospital recovering from wounds sustained during combat, Staff Sergeant Shannon heard stories from various soldiers who expressed concern about their family and the realities of keeping their house and the struggle of recovering while family members were at home. These stories struck a chord with Shannon, who left a position with the Wounded Warrior Project to co-found Helping Hands for Freedom.<br \/>\nThe mission of Helping Hands for Freedom is one of supporting military families dealing with death, deployment and loss. The organization provides Gold Star families, (those surviving family members of a fallen soldier, along with veterans who suffer from PTSD) with financial assistance and improve soldiers\u2019\/veterans\u2019 children\u2019s lives through compassion, honor, mentorship and leadership. In addition, Helping Hands for Freedom offers various programs to the children of military personnel, as well as helping with emergency assistance to military families.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sheldon\u2019s Daylight Camp<\/strong> is a free three-day youth football camp that was established in 2017 by founder, San Francisco 49ers\u2019 Defensive Tackle, and Indianapolis\u2019 own Sheldon Day. After graduating from Warren Central High School, Mr. Day was an early enrollee at The University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame, Mr. Day was a four-year varsity letter winner, playing Defensive Tackle. He was also a member of the 2013 National Championship runner-up team. In 2016 Mr. Day graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology. After graduating, Mr. Day was selected by the NFL\u2019s Jacksonville Jaguars as their 4th round draft pick. Mr. Day played a season and a half with the Jaguars. During the 2017 season, he was picked up as a free agent by the San Francisco 49ers, where he currently enjoys playing. Mr. Day loves his hometown and is a staunch believer in giving back to his community, especially to our youth. Thus, the creation of Sheldon\u2019s Daylight Camp.<br \/>\nThe mission of <em>Sheldon\u2019s Daylight Camp<\/em> is to inspire youth to see the light through education as a way to better their situation. Its purpose is to utilize football as a tool to engage and educate 4th-6th graders in Indianapolis, Indiana on the importance of education, healthy lifestyles, hope<br \/>\nand perseverance through sports by:<br \/>\n\u2022 Teaching young athletes proper techniques at various skill levels, and emphasize<br \/>\nteamwork, sportsmanship and the positive values associated with football.<br \/>\n\u2022 Exposing youth to the collegiate environment so they can begin to see college attendance<br \/>\nas a reality.<br \/>\n\u2022 Actively engaging with community leaders as a community resource.<br \/>\n\u2022 Motivating parents and students that their environment does not determine their future.<br \/>\n<em>Sheldon\u2019s Daylight Camp<\/em> takes approximately 200 campers annually on a field trip to the prestigious University of Notre Dame to experience what college life is both academically and athletically. Transportation and meals (breakfast and lunch), are provided throughout the camp. Each camper receives a scavenger hunt card which will have fill in the blank questions on topics that will be covered throughout the day such as: academic requirements to be a student-athlete, health and nutrition, sports management, etc. Campers will also have the opportunity to interact with a team of high school football coaches, current NFL players and volunteers that will teach them various football skill drills. The camp concludes with campers and their parents receiving information on various resources such as: employment information and health and education as well as enjoying the day with fun games, a bounce house, and food.<\/p>\n<p><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L.A.
