On Friday, it took in $75.8 million for a projected domestic debut of $205-$210 million over the four-day President&#8217;s Day weekend.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/review\/black-panther-review-1080811\"><em>Black Panther<\/em><\/a>\u00a0has already become the highest-grossing title in history at 33 AMC Theaters across the country, according to the mega exhibitor.\u00a0The film will easily nab the top February opening of all time and could score the biggest debut ever for a superhero pic if it passes up fellow Marvel title\u00a0<em>The Avengers\u00a0<\/em>($207.4 million).\u00a0Directed by Ryan Coogler, the $200 million movie stars Chadwick Boseman\u00a0as T&#8217;Challa\/Black Panther alongside Lupita Nyong&#8217;o, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.<\/p>\n<p><em>Black Panther<\/em>\u00a0boasts a 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, the best of any title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the rival DC Extended Universe. A warrior ingests a &#8220;heart-shaped herb&#8221; affected by the metal and gains superhuman abilities. Over time, the Wakandans use the vibranium to develop advanced technology and isolate themselves from the rest of the world by posing as a\u00a0<a title=\"Third World\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Third_World\">Third World<\/a>\u00a0country.<\/p>\n<p>In 1992, undercover in\u00a0<a title=\"Oakland, California\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oakland,_California\">Oakland, California<\/a>, Prince N&#8217;Jobu becomes convinced that Wakanda&#8217;s\u00a0<a title=\"Isolationism\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Isolationism\">isolationist<\/a>\u00a0policies have done more harm than good. He vows to share its technology with people of African descent around the world to help them conquer their oppressors. N&#8217;Jobu enlists black market arms dealer\u00a0<a title=\"Klaw (Marvel Comics)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Klaw_(Marvel_Comics)\">Ulysses Klaue<\/a>\u00a0to infiltrate Wakanda and steal a cache of vibranium. His brother King\u00a0<a title=\"T'Chaka\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/T%27Chaka\">T&#8217;Chaka<\/a>\u00a0learns of this from another undercover agent,\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Zuri (comics)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zuri_(comics)\">Zuri<\/a>, and confronts N&#8217;Jobu. When N&#8217;Jobu attacks Zuri, T&#8217;Chaka reluctantly kills him and orders Zuri to lie that N&#8217;Jobu disappeared. They leave behind his American son,\u00a0<a title=\"Erik Killmonger\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Erik_Killmonger\">Erik<\/a>, to maintain the lie.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, following T&#8217;Chaka&#8217;s death at the hands of\u00a0<a title=\"Helmut Zemo\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Helmut_Zemo\">Helmut Zemo<\/a>,<sup id=\"cite_ref-Timeline_6-0\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Black_Panther_(film)#cite_note-Timeline-6\">[N 1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0his son\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"T'Challa\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/T%27Challa\">T&#8217;Challa<\/a>\u00a0returns to Wakanda to assume the throne. He and\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Okoye (comics)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Okoye_(comics)\">Okoye<\/a>, the leader of the\u00a0<a title=\"Dora Milaje\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dora_Milaje\">Dora Milaje<\/a>\u00a0fighting force, extract his ex-lover\u00a0<a title=\"Malice (comics)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Malice_(comics)#Malice_(Nakia)\">Nakia<\/a>\u00a0from an undercover assignment so she can attend his coronation ceremony along with his mother\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Ramonda (comics)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ramonda_(comics)\">Ramonda<\/a>\u00a0and younger sister\u00a0<a title=\"Shuri (comics)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shuri_(comics)\">Shuri<\/a>. At the ceremony, the Jabari Tribe&#8217;s leader\u00a0<a title=\"Man-Ape\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Man-Ape\">M&#8217;Baku<\/a>\u00a0challenges T&#8217;Challa for the crown, but T&#8217;Challa defeats M&#8217;Baku in ritual combat, becoming the new king, and allows M&#8217;Baku to live.<\/p>\n<p>When Klaue resurfaces to sell a stolen Wakandan artifact to a buyer in\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Busan, South Korea\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Busan,_South_Korea\">Busan, South Korea<\/a>, T&#8217;Challa&#8217;s closest friend\u00a0<a title=\"W'Kabi\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/W%27Kabi\">W&#8217;Kabi<\/a>\u2014who lost his parents as a result of Klaue&#8217;s actions\u2014urges him to bring Klaue to justice. T&#8217;Challa, Okoye, and Nakia go to the underground casino where the deal is taking place, to find that the buyer is\u00a0<a title=\"Central Intelligence Agency\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Central_Intelligence_Agency\">CIA<\/a>\u00a0agent\u00a0<a title=\"Everett K. Ross\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Everett_K._Ross\">Everett K. Ross<\/a>, who takes Klaue into custody against T&#8217;Challa&#8217;s will. Klaue tells Ross that Wakanda&#8217;s international image is just a front for a technologically advanced civilization, before being broken out by Erik, now an ex-U.S.\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Black ops\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Black_ops\">black ops<\/a>\u00a0soldier who goes by the name &#8220;Killmonger&#8221;. Ross is seriously injured saving Nakia during the attack; rather than pursue Klaue, T&#8217;Challa takes Ross to Wakanda where their technology can save him. Shuri heals Ross with vibranium, while T&#8217;Challa confronts Zuri about N&#8217;Jobu.<\/p>\n<p>Killmonger kills Klaue and takes his body to Wakanda as a token, revealing his identity to the tribal elders and challenging T&#8217;Challa for the throne. Killmonger kills Zuri and then, after triumphing in ritual combat, hurls the defeated T&#8217;Challa over a waterfall. After ingesting the heart-shaped herb to gain the powers of the Black Panther, Killmonger enacts his father&#8217;s plan and prepares shipments of Wakandan weapons to be distributed to operatives around the world, supported by W&#8217;Kabi and his tribesmen. Nakia, Shuri, Ramonda, and Ross flee to seek the aid of the Jabari.<\/p>\n<p>At the home of the Jabari Tribe, the group find a comatose T&#8217;Challa, rescued by the Jabari in repayment for him sparing M&#8217;Baku&#8217;s life. Healed by a heart-shaped herb brought by Nakia, T&#8217;Challa returns to Wakanda to complete his combat with Killmonger, who is now wears his own Black Panther. Shuri and Nakia join the Dora Milaje and Jabari in battling W&#8217;Kabi and his army, while Ross pilots a jet to shoot down the planes carrying the weapon shipments. Within Wakanda&#8217;s vibranium mine, T&#8217;Challa uses sonic mining technology to disrupt Killmonger&#8217;s suit and fatally stab him. Killmonger declines an offer to be healed and imprisoned, choosing instead to die free.<\/p>\n<p>Rejecting Wakanda&#8217;s former isolationism, T&#8217;Challa establishes an outreach center in Oakland to be run by Nakia and Shuri. T&#8217;Challa appears before the\u00a0<a title=\"United Nations\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_Nations\">United Nations<\/a>\u00a0to reveal Wakanda&#8217;s true nature to the world.
