Her resume would be better described as a book and her credentials are overwhelmingly impressive. That\u2019s why The Wright Brothers, Founders of Eagle View Media Company (EVMC), called her mid-Summer about potentially hosting a music television program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were preparing to do a show to rebirth Soul and R&amp;B music. Mary is the perfect person to mentor younger talent and prepare them for a journey she knows very well,\u201d said Ro Wright, a longtime friend of Griffin and also Co-Founder of EVMC. \u201cThis woman is phenomenal. As a person and as a performer. An aspiring artist could only hope to be mentored by her,\u201d said Ro.<\/p>\n<p>Griffin is now slated to host a new show for EVMC\u2019s Congo TV Network. It will begin airing early 2018 but auditions and filming will begin late 2017. Griffin\u2019s Entertainment Company, Mahogany Entertainment Corp, will welcome ten talented artists to Houston, TX to be mentored by herself and presented in a music showcase Live in Houston, TX. The final showcase will give the artists the opportunity to perform before record execs, industry moguls, popular radio DJ\u2019s, other celebrity guests. \u201cI\u2019m going to work with these artists, polish them, and place them before people who can make their dreams come true,\u201d said Griffin.<\/p>\n<p>Griffin plans to select one artist in which she and her company will personally invest in by recording a project for that artist, develop a brand around the artist, and she will allow the artist to open for her on her tour.<\/p>\n<p><b>Video:<\/b>\u00a0<i>Mary Griffin on stage with Patti Labelle<\/i><br \/>\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lGEP0Kh7d08?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0&amp;start=34\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>She knows very well what it takes to survive in this industry. Early on she made a name for herself on the New Orleans music scene, making a name for herself as the priority voice for\u00a0<b>Patti Labelle<\/b>. She has been traveling the world with\u00a0<b>George Clinton<\/b>. She has shared the platform with\u00a0<b>Gladys Knight<\/b>\u00a0and Jazz Legend,\u00a0<b>Diane Schuur<\/b>, to name a few. She has been the private musical guest for many of the world\u2019s biggest names including\u00a0<b>Oprah Winfrey<\/b>,\u00a0<b>Mary J. Blige<\/b>,\u00a0<b>First Lady Barbara Bush<\/b>, and even\u00a0<b>President Barack Obama<\/b>. She has contributed to the sells of more than 21 Platinum Records including the soundtracks to the movies,\u00a0<i>Studio 54<\/i>\u00a0(in which she actually performed in) and the movie\u00a0<i>Coyote Ugly<\/i>\u00a0as well.<\/p>\n<p>Often called to sing the National Anthem at NFL and NBA games, she is booked to make special appearances on the biggest stages in the world. Griffin will turn 50 years old on November 9 but looks every bit of woman in her mid-30s. She will share her diet and workout tips on the show as well, hoping to inspire younger artists to take care of their bodies as much as their voices.<\/p>\n<p>Griffin was born in the small town Amarillo, TX. Her father was a Baptist preacher in Louisiana and he helped to cultivate his daughters\u2019 gifts singing in churches across Northern Louisiana. After Hurricane Katrina, she relocated to Houston, TX while working with Patti Labelle. She has built her own empire in Houston, TX and has remained there for almost a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Griffin is looking for authentic Soul and R&amp;B singers. \u201cWe are looking for people who have cultivated their gift and are ready to evolve. There won\u2019t be any auto tuning on this show. You won\u2019t make it just because you\u2019re cute. You won\u2019t make it just because you can dance. This is about real singing\u2026 from the gut\u2026 if you have what it takes, I\u2019d like to help you climb this ladder,\u201d said Griffin.<\/p>\n<p><b>Singers must meet the following criteria:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Between 21-40 years old<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to spend 7 days in Houston, TX during filming<\/li>\n<li>Male or Female<\/li>\n<li>Must be willing to share their adversity on camera<\/li>\n<li>Must not be under contract with a label already<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to sing acapella and with a band at any given moment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Singers must record themselves singing one of the following songs:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Adele<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Someone Like You<\/li>\n<li><b>Whitney Houston<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Saving All My Love For You<\/li>\n<li><b>Luther Vandross<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Since I Lost My Baby<\/li>\n<li><b>Anita Baker<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 No One In The World<\/li>\n<li><b>Marvin Gaye<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 I Want You<\/li>\n<li><b>Mariah Carey<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Vision of Love<\/li>\n<li><b>Sam Cooke<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Change Is Gonna Come<\/li>\n<li><b>Jennifer Holiday<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 And I\u2019m Telling You<\/li>\n<li><b>Jill Scott<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 He Loves Me<\/li>\n<li><b>Donnie Hathaway<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 A Song For You<\/li>\n<li><b>Stevie Wonder<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Knocks Me Off My Feet<\/li>\n<li><b>Regina Bell<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Baby Come To Me<\/li>\n<li><b>Vesta Williams<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Congratulations<\/li>\n<li><b>Sam Smith<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Stay With Me<\/li>\n<li><b>John Legend<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 All Of Me<\/li>\n<li><b>Otis Redding<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Try A Little Tenderness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Songs can be sang with music or acapella but they must not include background vocals.\u00a0<b>Artists should email their video link or video mp4 with their name, age, city, and photo to<\/b>:\u00a0<b><a href=\"mailto:mgriffin@mahoganyentcorp.com\">mgriffin@mahoganyentcorp.com<\/a><\/b>. The deadline for all submissions is November 20, 2017. Twenty singers will be selected to come audition live in Houston, TX.
