Fisher was best known to legions of fans as Princess Leia from the <i>Star Wars<\/i> saga.<\/p>\n<p>Fisher, the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, made her film debut in 1975 in <em>Shampoo<\/em> and two years later took on the iconic role of Princess Leia, a role that would reshape the way women are portrayed on screen today.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1270 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ampsmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Princess-Leia-3-300x183.jpg?resize=300%2C183\" alt=\"princess-leia-3\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" \/> <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1269 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ampsmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Princess-Leia-2-300x169.png?resize=300%2C169\" alt=\"princess-leia-2\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/>Fisher starred in films such as <em>The Blues Brothers, The Man with One Red Shoe, Hannah and Her Sisters,<\/em> and <em>When Harry Met Sally. <\/em>She was also a prolific writer, penning such books as <em>Postcards from the Edge<\/em> (later turned into film), <em>Delusions of Grandma, Wishful Drinking,<\/em> and this year\u2019s <em>The Princess Diarist, <\/em>based on diaries she kept at the time she filmed 1977\u2019s <em>Star Wars: A New Hope.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Actress Carrie Fisher passed away Dec. 27 at the age of 60, after having a heart attack on Friday, Dec. 23.
