PLAYER OF THE WEEK

#5 Suraya Chase, Chowan
(Jr. , OH – Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago)
 
Suraya Chase collected 40 kills over the course of three matches for the Chowan Blue and White as the Hawks posted a 1-2 record. Her top performance was a 19-kill outing in the Hawks’ win over West Virginia Wesleyan in a five-set thriller.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

#3 Ashley Tutherow, Chowan
(Fr., Opposite – Mesa, AZ, 3)

Ashley Tutherow had a breakout weekend for the Hawks in her first collegiate matches. She tallied 39 kills over the course of three matches as Chowan finished 1-2 as part of the Spike-Out Hunger Challenge hosted by Winston-Salem State. Tutherow tallied 18 kills in a 3-2 win over West Virginia Wesleyan, seven in a 3-1 loss to Shepherd and 14 in a 3-1 setback to Fairmont State.

COACH OF THE WEEK

Andi Henderson, Winston-Salem State 

Coach Henderson led WSSU to a 2-1 record in the WSSU Spike Out Hunger Volleyball Challenge. WSSU picked up wins over Shepherd University and WV Wesleyan
