Charlotte, NC (April 28, 2016) – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), along with its Softball Coaches Association, announces the 2016 All-Conference Teams, All-Rookie Team, Player of the Year, and Coach of the Year.

Kayla Robins, junior pitcher from Chowan University, has been named CIAA Softball Player of the Year.  At the mound, the Mathews County, Virginia native leads the conference with a 2.35 earned run average.  Per game, Robins averages 8.68 strikeouts for a total of 181 strikeouts this season.

Haley Cooper, freshman catcher from Chowan, earns the CIAA Softball Rookie of the Year honor.  Throughout the season, Cooper tallied 217 put outs for a .983 fielding percentage.  Offensively, the Hertford, NC native collected 43 hits, 9 double plays, 3 home runs, and 34 runs batted in for a .589 slugging percentage.

Chowan Head Coach Brian De Witt led the Hawks to the Northern Division Title with an undefeated 8-0 divisional record (14-0 CIAA; 25-12 Overall).  The five-time Coach of the Week enters the 2016 Softball Championship for his second tournament appearance as head coach, seeking his first CIAA Championship Title with the Hawks.
